Junkers and the Bauhaus
Information
Junkers-Flugzeugwerke (Junkers Aircraft Works), one of the pioneers of aircraft construction, was founded in 1919 in Dessau. This is also where, together with Marcel Breuer, the first furniture made of bent steel tubing was created.
Karl Körner also designed his own furniture, in addition to his work at the Junkers factories – including the Junkers-Gartensessel (garden chair) in 1919.
