Sergius Ruegenberg (1903–1996) was an architect and designer who worked for Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Towards the end of the 1980s, he sketched several designs with Tecta. These included the Cantilever armchair D5.

In collaboration with Tecta, Sergius Ruegenberg created several special designs in the late 1980s. These included Ruegenberg’s armchair, which he himself called the ‘virtuous armchair’ and which combined elements of the Barcelona armchair and the Weißenhof chair.
